The Activities for Adults Department provides recreational activities for patrons other than exercise. They range from Whale Watching trips to performances by Cirque du Soleil, from Great Decisions study groups to needleworkers to sporting events, foreign language conversation to sketching groups.
Meets on Mondays from 1-3pm in the Fireside Room. All types and levels of skill are welcome. We have quilters, knitters, spinners, embroiderers, crocheters. Drop in and become part of the group. Someone is always willing to teach a new technique.
Meets on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. During the winter we take part in the national Great Decisions program on American Foreign Policy. The rest of the year we are viewing Lectures from the Great Courses on various topics – ranging from Genetics to Global Economics to History and Anthropology. Drop in and try out a 30 minute college level dvd lecture and discussion of the material.
Meets on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am till noon, sometimes longer when we are outdoors in the summer. Bring your sketchbook, paints, pencils, crayons and paint with the group. Someone is always willing to demonstrate whatever technique they are using.
Pinochle currently meets on Wednesdays from 2:00-4:00 pm.
This is a beginner friendly group.
Available for age 6 through adult
This has been a tradition at NCRD for 12 years. Fresh scones are offered along with , coffee or tea on the first Friday of the month in the Fireside Room from 10am till noon. The conversations cover a myriad of topics and they get lively.
Meets on the 4th Friday of the month from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.
